Last night I decided to stop by PCQandA since I hadn't been there in years. I was surprised, it's a ghost town now. Not much going on at all. Here's a post by Jason Levine:
Hi all,
As you might have noticed, PCQandA has been very quiet
recently. When we first launched in October 2002, we had ...

Re: Mozilla Firefox
I hate when they do that too. I encountered one of those sites a few days ago, I went to a site that I thought might have what I was searching for only to find it wasn't even a good site and I immediately went to go back but my back button was grayed out, so I couldn't back out to my carefully ...

Re: Slackware-Current
Thanks Grogan I'll try that. I didn't think I had a saved session, when I launch XFCE nothing is left open from the prior session, but on looking in my .cache/sessions there are a lot of *.state files.

Re: Slackware-Current
I've been having a weird issue with my auto-hiding bottom panel that has all my launchers - it only works properly for a brief while during a session, then it no longer unhides when the mouse cursor is moved down there...but if I move the mouse to the bottom of the other display it then unhides. I ...

Sceptre Display
Back when I got a 27" Sceptre display for my gaming machine I liked it so much I decided to get one for my primary machine. They look identical, but something inside is different. This one periodically (well, often) doesn't wake up from sleep, the power light stops blinking as if it did wake up but ...

Thanks Grogan. I'll test proton-cachyos with some other games.

CatchyOS
I got Steam running in CatchyOS on my main system and tested out Sniper Elite Resistance. It ran very well, I used Glorious Eggroll 1010, initially I tried proton-catchyos but the game was stuck on "launching". Still planning to put it on the machine I mostly use for games.

Malware Found In AUR Source or Build Script For Firefox
While the Arch Linux AUR repository can be popular for fetching some packages not found in Arch Linux proper, it's important to keep in mind that AUR stands for the Arch User Repository. These user packages aren't always the best and rarely can be done with malicious intent as shown this week with ...

That's pretty good! I got all three of those artillery spotters with long distance shots from the other side of the map in a tower.

Not yet but I plan to install it on my game machine soon. I could also get Steam etc going here on my main machine though my game machine has a stronger video card.

Re: Arch Linux 2024
I've had CatchyOS installed on my main machine for two months now, and I've found that I'm spending more time in it than in vanilla Arch. I only have MATE and Cosmic DE's installed (mostly using MATE at this time). I like Plasma, which is what I have in vanilla Arch, but I also like the simplicity ...

Re: 'Stop Killing Games' Campaign
I noticed he had a live stream going, he does that on weekends sometimes. I'll often put it on and listen while doing other things. I didn't catch this one until it was at the 4 hour mark, and now it's past 5 hours lol!

TV Tube Testers
I remember sometime in the 1970's going with my parents to one of the local stores and my dad testing all the tubes from the TV to find the bad one.

Re: New Phone Today
About 6 years ago I got an early PinePhone phone, it wasn't intended as a "daily driver" phone since it still had a long way to go at that time. They mainly wanted to get it in the hands of developers. Battery life wasn't very good but it was fun to play around with. It was also fairly cheap. No ...

FB public posts about anything remotely related to climate change, vaccinations, etc and even science topics in general will have a large percentage of "

Re: New Phone Today
I get slightly less of that with the Pixel phones than I used to with the others, just Google's own store. Only way to get away from all that stuff in Android is with one of those deGoogled versions of Android like LineageOS and GrapheneOS . One of these days I'll play around with those on an older ...
