CatchyOS

Post by Zema Bus »

I got Steam running in CatchyOS on my main system and tested out Sniper Elite Resistance. It ran very well, I used Glorious Eggroll 1010, initially I tried proton-catchyos but the game was stuck on "launching". Still planning to put it on the machine I mostly use for games.

I'm currently using a proton-tkg built with wine 10.12 with ntsync for Sniper Elite Resistance (and most other games except for a few where it doesn't work). I think Proton GE's patchsets have esync, fsync AND ntsync (whereas, TKG uses patchsets that are conflicting and esync and fsync have to be disabled). You should be able to enable ntsync with a variable. For the games it works for, it usually results in not necessarily higher framerates (v.s. fsync), but smoother game play.

Figures that proton-cachyos doesn't work.

Actually I was just looking at Proton-GE 10-10 release notes and...
ntsync now enabled by default, will be used if kernel supports it
That's great, but it does mean that if a game doesn't work with ntsync, you'll have to DISable it with a variable, PROTON_USE_NTSYNC=0

Thanks Grogan. I'll test proton-cachyos with some other games.
