Winter coat shipped compressed

Look what these assholes did to my winter parka... that's not a nice thing to do. It's folded, compressed and shrink wrapped down to about an inch.

That's not a nice thing to do to a foam winter coat. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep that or not, I may not even open it to make returning it easy. It may have a memory and expand OK after some time, but that's shitty.

I could have just gone to a fucking store and bought something, but no... I had to order it on Amazon.

I decided to open it and see if it recovers after 24 hours or so. It's pretty squished... the sleeves are flat lol

I've never had a memory foam coat (didn't even know that was a thing) but I've bought other memory foam products in the past (mattress and pillows) and they've expanded to the expected size within a short time, looked pretty good after a few hours though they said to give it something like 24 hours to fully decompress. They all also needed time to air out and lose the strong smell. I have also heard of memory foam products that fail to expand very much. What did the reviews look like?

That stuff kind of reminds me of my backpacking days when I was in my early teens, all the food we carried was squashed flat in little vacuumed bags lol!

I misspoke, it's not memory foam or even foam, I was just assuming it was one of those. It's got something in the lining, but it's thinner than I thought it could be. It does need to expand though, if it doesn't I can't see it being of much insulating use. It's a big, hooded ski jacket with lots of pockets, I shouldn't have called it a "parka" even. That's just what I call a big winter coat. I changed the title to "winter coat" as parka was wrong.

I didn't read any reviews, or much about it, it was just "I need a light weight parka, here's one available through Prime, affordable price, be here by Sunday if I order right now" etc. I've never heard of the make and I can't even remember it right now. I'll post a link to the item. "Magcomsen"

That's gross, food packed like that. I'd rather eat my coat

P.P.S. Something I didn't notice... it was actually flagged as a "Frequently Returned Item" with "Check the product details and customer reviews to learn more about this item." below it. How's that for not paying attention. (It's probably going to be OK though, I care less about just how warm it is, I need something I can wear while driving that's better than my old lumberjack coat for going to/from the car. I'm not exactly into winter activities, or anything for that matter, in winter.

Most reviews are good actually, moreover, one of them said "perfect for the car". I see one negative one that didn't even try it, "too thin".

I've done that, bought something without looking closely enough, especially when I'm in a hurry because I'm in the middle of work.

A couple of months ago, we bought a hybrid King mattress. Bought it from Sam's Club. Member's Mark brand. It came compressed and was in a box about 1.5 feet by about 5 feet. I opened it and placed the shrunken heavy as hell plastic bag in the middle of the bed frame. As soon as I cut the plastic it birthed itself right out. Wish I had taken a video of that! Got the plastic (heavy duty stuff!) out and had to give it 48 hours to expand before use. Instructions said to lay on the mattress and roll back and forth to help smooth it over the two days. It still has one corner with a barely noticeable high spot. You see it when changing the sheets. Otherwise it was good buy I believe.

By the way, the coat passed the test. Garbage night tonight, and it's about -12C. We have a long winding driveway, and the coat was good enough for my purposes.
