TRM - Trump Resistance Movement
March 11 at 5:36 PM

“Why do some British people not like Donald Trump?” Nate White, an articulate and witty writer from England wrote the following response:
A few things spring to mind. Trump lacks certain qualities which the British traditionally esteem. For instance, he has no class, no charm, no coolness, no credibility, no compassion, no wit, no warmth, no wisdom, no subtlety, no sensitivity, no self-awareness, no humility, no honour and no grace – all qualities, funnily enough, with which his predecessor Mr. Obama was generously blessed. So for us, the stark contrast does rather throw Trump’s limitations into embarrassingly sharp relief.
Plus, we like a laugh. And while Trump may be laughable, he has never once said anything wry, witty or even faintly amusing – not once, ever. I don’t say that rhetorically, I mean it quite literally: not once, not ever. And that fact is particularly disturbing to the British sensibility – for us, to lack humour is almost inhuman. But with Trump, it’s a fact. He doesn’t even seem to understand what a joke is – his idea of a joke is a crass comment, an illiterate insult, a casual act of cruelty.
Trump is a troll. And like all trolls, he is never funny and he never laughs; he only crows or jeers. And scarily, he doesn’t just talk in crude, witless insults – he actually thinks in them. His mind is a simple bot-like algorithm of petty prejudices and knee-jerk nastiness.
There is never any under-layer of irony, complexity, nuance or depth. It’s all surface. Some Americans might see this as refreshingly upfront. Well, we don’t. We see it as having no inner world, no soul. And in Britain we traditionally side with David, not Goliath. All our heroes are plucky underdogs: Robin Hood, Dick Whittington, Oliver Twist. Trump is neither plucky, nor an underdog. He is the exact opposite of that. He’s not even a spoiled rich-boy, or a greedy fat-cat. He’s more a fat white slug. A Jabba the Hutt of privilege.
And worse, he is that most unforgivable of all things to the British: a bully. That is, except when he is among bullies; then he suddenly transforms into a snivelling sidekick instead. There are unspoken rules to this stuff – the Queensberry rules of basic decency – and he breaks them all. He punches downwards – which a gentleman should, would, could never do – and every blow he aims is below the belt. He particularly likes to kick the vulnerable or voiceless – and he kicks them when they are down.
So the fact that a significant minority – perhaps a third – of Americans look at what he does, listen to what he says, and then think ‘Yeah, he seems like my kind of guy’ is a matter of some confusion and no little distress to British people, given that:
• Americans are supposed to be nicer than us, and mostly are.
• You don’t need a particularly keen eye for detail to spot a few flaws in the man.
This last point is what especially confuses and dismays British people, and many other people too; his faults seem pretty bloody hard to miss. After all, it’s impossible to read a single tweet, or hear him speak a sentence or two, without staring deep into the abyss. He turns being artless into an art form; he is a Picasso of pettiness; a Shakespeare of shit. His faults are fractal: even his flaws have flaws, and so on ad infinitum. God knows there have always been stupid people in the world, and plenty of nasty people too. But rarely has stupidity been so nasty, or nastiness so stupid. He makes Nixon look trustworthy and George W look smart. In fact, if Frankenstein decided to make a monster assembled entirely from human flaws – he would make a Trump.
And a remorseful Doctor Frankenstein would clutch out big clumpfuls of hair and scream in anguish: ‘My God… what… have… I… created?' If being a twat was a TV show, Trump would be the boxed set.

That's pretty brazen, "phone us for an offer, while we delay your order".

I'd go so far as to say that anybody who LIKES Donald Trump has something wrong with them. I don't see a single likable trait... his family, while they have to blow smoke up his ass to prosper, will probably be happy when he's dead. Transaction concluded.

Tony posted this today, I got a screenshot of the first part but it's long, so plain text for the rest of it.

They bombed a school. A school. Kids. And the official Pentagon response was basically “we’re looking into it,” which is military speak for “we’re hoping you forget by Thursday.”
They have closed the Strait of Hormuz to global shipping. Oil is through the roof. Fuel prices in countries that had absolutely nothing to do with this stupidity are going through the ceiling. Australia, a country 15,000 kilometres from Tehran, is now staring down a fuel crisis because one bloke in Washington decided he needed a war to distract from the fact that his mate’s name is all over the Epstein files.
Enough.
WHAT WE’RE CALLING FOR
Immediate trade restrictions on non-essential American exports. You don’t need American bourbon. You’ll survive without another Marvel movie. I promise you, your life will go on without a 47th streaming service.
Withdrawal from US dollar reserves where feasible. Start diversifying. The dollar isn’t backed by gold anymore. It’s backed by vibes and aircraft carriers, and one of those is currently stuck in a conflict zone leaking sewage.
Critical supply leverage. Rare earth minerals. Lithium. Cobalt. Nickel. All the shiny little rocks that make America’s tech economy run. Start attaching conditions. You want our resources? Stop bombing schools. Seems like a fair trade.
Consumer boycotts. Every single person reading this has more power than they think. Stop buying American. Not forever. Just until the grown ups show up. Cancel the streaming. Skip the franchise coffee. Put down the iPhone for 5 minutes and pick up literally anything else.
Diplomatic downgrade. Pull ambassadors. Cancel state visits. Stop pretending this administration deserves a seat at the adult table when they can’t even sit through a briefing without live tweeting it.
“BUT THIS WILL HURT US TOO”
Yeah. It will. Never said it wouldn’t.
You know what else hurts? Being complicit. Sitting there buying American products while American bombs flatten apartment buildings in a country most Americans couldn’t find on a map even if you drew a big red circle around it and wrote “HERE, DICKHEAD” in block letters.
Sometimes doing the right thing is expensive. Ask anyone who’s ever left a toxic relationship. The first 6 months are shit. You’re sleeping on a mate’s couch eating cereal for dinner. But then one morning you wake up and realise you’re not living with a lunatic anymore and the cereal actually tastes pretty good.
That’s what this is. Global cereal on a mate’s couch. Short term pain for long term “holy shit, we actually stood up to the bully.”
“AMERICA WILL RETALIATE”
With what? Tariffs? They’ve already tariffed everyone. They tariffed Canada. They tariffed Europe. They tariffed Australia and we literally fight every single one of their wars for them. There’s nobody left to tariff. They’re going to start tariffing themselves soon just out of habit.
What are they going to do, invade us? They can’t even run the war they’ve already got. The Gerald Ford is basically a floating portaloo. The troops are being sent to a desert with the same planning energy as a schoolies trip to Bali.
WHO THIS IS FOR
This is for every country that got dragged into Iraq and said “never again” and then watched it happen again anyway.
This is for every Australian paying $2.80 a litre because some spray tanned game show host wanted to play Churchill.
This is for every European diplomat biting their tongue so hard it’s bleeding.
This is for every Canadian who watched Mark Carney stand up in Parliament and say “we are not America’s lapdog” and thought “finally, someone with a spine.”
This is for every mother in every country who looked at the footage from Minab and thought about her own kids.
THE DEMAND IS SIMPLE
Stop the war. Withdraw from Iran. Submit to an independent investigation into civilian casualties. Rejoin the international community as a functioning democracy instead of whatever the fuck this is.
And if the 80 year old toddler in the Oval Office won’t do it, then the people around him need to do what they should have done years ago. Take the keys off grandpa. He’s had enough.
The world is not America’s sandbox. These are not America’s resources. And these are certainly not America’s children to kill.
Sincerely,
Everyone who’s fucking had enough.

Humans are, by nature, opportunistic cowards. That's why we're not seeing more "Fuck Donald Trump!" from other governments. Planting lips firmly around his foul sphincter can give you an economic edge.

A combined effort could bring the U.S. dollar down so far that the world would stop trading with it. Donald Trump clown bucks, with his name on them.

Of course I agree with whoever wrote that and eventually there may be an international intervention, if this regime isn't stopped domestically.

I've always hated sites that do that.

I used to really hate that, but for several years now I open links in tabs (middle click) so I don't lose my place. Good for Google, that kind of tomfoolery sucks.

Back buttonning can cause problems on some sites too though (e.g. tokens)

I don't know if you remember Rick Willis, he often helped with the crunching team at BBF ages ago.

Bush may not be the dumbest man in the world, but he better hope Trump doesn't die.

(Actually, compared to Trump, W. is a knight in shining armour lol)
