My car player only sorts based on ID3V2 tags, so I need to do it properly if I want the files to appear in the correct "albums". I put the artist and title in the title, so the car computer will bloody show it on the tracks. Mix1 is a big directory where I put things that don't have enough tracks for a whole album. (I also have a Mix2 for nasty, angry songs for when I'm in a bad mood
My new car player won't let you change albums and shit when the car is moving (it will let you change tracks, and you can still use the hot progress bar to jump within the track, but they've crippled the controls... nannying for ninnies) so now I'm gravitating towards larger directories so I can just change tracks within it.
Anyway, I thought I'd want the same version of kid3-qt that I had (from 2019 lol) because I want it to compile against QT5 (I detest QT6 and don't let it get on here). So I went to get my sources and build notes from the other computer, and... it wouldn't boot. Grub error, "HD1 cannot read CHS". Damn SATA connectors, it was fine a few days ago (that's all it was lol... I thought my second hard disk where Arch is, and all my build dirs and stuff are). So I got my files and found I had to downgrade cmake for the build and that got me further, but it wouldn't compile against current QT5. I was kind of surprised, because that's been legacy for a long time.
However, the latest version, 3.9.7 STILL compiles against current QT5, without KDE. I made all that work for myself (though finding out about the degraded SATA connection was good, but I didn't need it today
Anyway, QT5 is configured with qt5ct (in the absence of KDE, you need something) to match my GTK styling. My favourite tag editor, built the way I want it!
