I found this shield a few nights ago and with all the things it does for me, it has some unexpected benefits. I almost wasn't going to keep it because it was much lower capacity than my current big energy shield.

That 1 ammo/s regen sounds chintzy at first thought, as it only adds ammo to the current magazine. HOWEVER, with all the COV cooldown guns I have, that essentially have no magazine, that means I just have to have the SMG in my hand while while walking and it will constantly regenerate ammo. Similar for my corrosive assault rifle ("wombo combo" lol). My weirdly wicked Jakobs Ballista sniper almost never uses ammo, because it regenerates in between shots (unlisted COV magazine)

Now, all that was fine and dandy, but I'd been noticing that my big futhermuckin Maliwan shock launcher heavy weapon has been giving me extra shots. I thought maybe that property was transferring from the legendary SMG I have that gives a free shot 30% of the time but no, it's that shield!

Because of the overshield which is often in place (you get it two ways), when I come out with the launcher I can still take some damage and the shield is still "full" and recharges my launcher ammo in between shots. Now that I know what the deal is, I can keep that going indefinitely... just don't consume all 6 shots quickly, or when the shield isn't full. (I can back off a bit and wait for it, it's got decent recharge stats). It's been making short work of those Vile enemies with the crystals you have to break. I've been taking them down completely in one launcher volley (e.g. 10 shots that I wouldn't have had before). I keep shock equipped for the heavy because it's the most useful. Strong shields are what piss me off the most. I have a skill perk thing that does both fire and shock when shock is used, and vice versa if fire is used so it's useful enough against most enemies.

Stuff like this is what's keeping me going. I know what the game is doing to me at least

Today's big update fixed that launcher regen behaviour and it no longer works. Just when I was getting accustomed to using it advantageously. The instant I went to use my launcher and discovered that didn't work after the update, I rage quit.

They fixed a lot of loopholes in this update and subsequent in-game patch. It used to be that when you started a new character, you'd keep the SDU upgrades. Now they have made it so you start at zero again. Gee thanks. I haven't ever started a new character, and won't now, but that pisses me off. Also fixed loopholes where people were getting vault hunter perks unlocked early.

I've had enough, this game is going to go. It's not meant to be enjoyable, it's meant to exploit you. Time to get back to my life.

I similarly swapped out a big shield for a smaller one with some features that did a better job of keeping me alive.

I haven't played this game in a while, it soured on me after that last boss fight. I think whenever I get back to it I'll just do the approaches to the big boss fights, but not the boss fights themselves if they're all like the last one. I'm more into it for the fun, not the stress. Yeah they're driving this franchise into the ground, for no reason.

I'm not playing this now, but I think I'm still going to redeem golden keys, because if I do play it again (e.g. when they add some new playable content), there's likely to be a level cap increase and I'd need to get new stuff. Right now it's pointless, the last 3 keys I spent didn't get me anything good. I already have better gear than I'd get from that chest. The shit I don't want is worth about the same money to sell, too.

JHXTB-RFWH3-C6335-TBBJB-JWWBH = 3 Golden Keys (expires December 23) new!
I'm not even going to start the game, I'm just going to redeem the keys in the Shift menu. I don't want to get sucked in by this game again right now. What a crappy way to waste my time, playing this ugly, aggravating, intelligence insulting game to the exclusion of everything else (because of what it tweaks in the brain... somewhat similar to what cocaine does to a person)

P.S. I remember back when I was obsessed with Borderlands 2. I took a good week and a half off over Christmas and New Years. Spend time with family and friends? Nope, I spent almost the whole time playing Borderlands 2. I was so mad at myself. (I realized that after I'd lost the money I'd accumulated because I didn't know about those Rat Thieves in The Fridge. "What the fuck! All I've done is play this stupid game and I have nothing to show for it. I even lost my money!" )

I remember your rant about the Rat Thieves lol! Fortunately I learned from your experience, I made sure to not let any of them get too close and killed them on sight :)

Well... yesterday there was a big update to the game that added a new Bounty pack DLC. I couldn't be arsed to play it, so I didn't test it or try it. I'm not letting myself get sucked in by that garbage game right now, I've been enjoying other games that I haven't played in a long time. Borderlands 4 is just like taking bad drugs. Ugly and unpleasant, yet compulsive.

I realized that I really can't install any more games until I free up some space, so this one got nuked. I have a tarball of my profile/saves in case I do want to play some new content or something. This didn't sound compelling enough.

That freed up probably around 150 Gb.

I should uninstall it too, I don't anticipate playing it again anytime soon. Too bad you didn't get a 4 TB NVMe while they were still cheap :)
