Those turn a gun into a shock weapon (but still take regular ammo vs. something like a "shock assault rifle" that takes shock rods). You'll find lots of guns with that mod already applied. Plasma too, for example I have an "incendiary light revolver" that has a plasma mod. It still takes the regular short rounds instead of plasma charges.
If you've discovered the EARL it becomes a fast travel location, so you can go back and get the recipe. You won't miss it, knowing it's there.
Gunfight with the official, security chief Vaillencourt in the hangar bay? I blow him up along with his big mortar firing mech, from the railing above (rocket launcher). Clownfuck
I did, and I made a special trip back to Dorado to get him. I also cleaned out all the other Auntie's Choice camps while I was on that planet. They shoot at me on sight now (permanently hostile if you give The Archive computer back to The Order), so there's no reason not to exterminate them. It's free XP and looting.
My guns and perks are ridiculous now. I put on that perk where critical hits cause the enemy to explode this time, and just like that "Shrug it Off" perk, I'm surprised at just how effective it is (and how often it happens lol).

Bummer... I've finished my third playthrough now. I say bummer, because it's time to leave it alone for a while now. I can't see myself starting another without all my awesome stuff again just yet. Probably in a couple of weeks, I really enjoyed this game and it could be like the Mass Effect games where I always have a playthrough going that I get back to.
Replay value just like the older Borderlands games (BL4 doesn't even have first play value lol!), and unlike Borderlands, save anytime you want, exit the game anytime you want without losing progress, and no respawn fees
I don't do it very often but whenever I decide to load a prior save to change the end result of a dialogue that ends up being pivotal I like how there always seems to be an auto-save right before the conversation begins.
Yes, it is pretty good with the auto saves. It will likely overwrite the last one after you've made such a decision, but it keeps enough that there will be one soon before.
Yeah, Borderlands 4, I can't be arsed to play that anymore. I did last week for a bit, just to see what the gear in Maurice's Black Market vending machine was, but it didn't impress me and nor did continuing to play. There's been a game update since and I haven't even bothered to try it to see if it still works. It's like an abusive ex. that you keep going back to, until you wise up.
I played Borderlands 3 tonight, I had just reset so I could play the DLC again and had just started Bounty of Blood. That's the last good Borderlands game (and the DLC was interesting and fun).
I don't think Outer Worlds is really comparable to Borderlands games. It's more like a Fallout game (moreover, it's deliberately molded that way... Obsidian was the studio that did Fallout: New Vegas for Bethesda). About the only thing in common with Borderlands is player levels. The first Outer Worlds actually had guns/gear levels and you could spend money to upgrade them to higher levels, or just pick up new ones. You also had to repair your gear with weapon and armor parts. They took all of that out and it's the Guns skill that increases damage.
After you finish this game you should consider Outer Worlds Remastered. I've played through that one multiple times and it has really good DLC. (the game would be awfully short without it... Outer Worlds 2 is much longer).
I started a new game of the remastered Outer Worlds. I was almost finished a game, on the final mission after doing the DLC. I decided to just start anew, since I haven't seen earlier parts in a longer time. It's good to see that again. The first planet is nice and colourful.
When I finish a new playthrough of this I'll be ready for another of Outer Worlds 2
Actually it's called "The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition" (I had forgotten the name). It's a nice remaster (similar graphics quality to the second game), well done, using Unreal Engine 4 and it comes with the DLC. (I bought mine on GoG)
I see what you mean about the music now. I didn't think much of it (except for that music that seems to play when you're searching for something, and this ridiculous regal-holy Protectorate music near the end on the Consul's ship)
But for some reason, in this playthrough, the radio was on (it wasn't in any of my others... must have been the game update). I knew it was there (like a fallout game) but I normally wouldn't turn on stupid shit like that.
There are some funny propaganda songs from Auntie's Choice. As soon as I landed on Paradise Island for the first time, this song was playing
and while heading to that jump boots quest, a Crabwich commercial
P.S. Fucking stupid AI captions... it's getting the lyrics wrong
I just got The Outer Worlds on GoG, it was 75% off (expires in 3 hrs), $7.49 for the base game vs $30 on Steam. I also got The Outer Worlds: Non-Mandatory Corporate-Sponsored Bundle, and Spacer's Choice Edition Upgrade Bundle. Altogether it was $18. Looks like the same on Steam would total around $120.
At first I read that as "Peril on Grogan"

You just reminded me to play that, I was just thinking of what to play.
That's a good sale, on GoG. I think I paid full price for that (e.g. $79.99 CAD) at the time. I don't mind, when a game entertains me as much as that one.
In Outer Worlds, you can upgrade your weapons 5 levels above you, with money. It gets increasingly expensive each level increment (regardless of its initial level). So, keep earning and selling shit to make money and keep upgrading your guns, but when you find upgraded variants of those, like Mark II and such (they'll probably be higher damage than your upgraded ones), use those and start upgrading them. It starts off cheap again, like 50 bucks. Upgrading your guns skills doesn't directly increase gun damage, but things like critical hit chances and stuff. It's a different formula than Outer Worlds 2, you get 10 skill points every time you level up and you can spread them around.
So I started a new playthrough of Outer Worlds 2, and this time I'm doing some Auntiepoo stuff so I can have some different quests. I took Inez as a follower this time, too and I have to do her quests (to get creature parts and take it to the doctor to fix her "grafts" lol).
I'm not sure what I'm going to do later (I hate Auntie's Choice), but I'll probably end up ditching them (making enemies of them) and working for the Order of Ascendants. I don't like their silly fucking mathematical "religion" but they are the only ones I'd want to leave in charge. Or, I could make peace and unite Auntie and The Order which would result in even more quests I've never done before. It will be a while before I'll have to make that decision.
I was in the Ministry of Accuracy and found the terminal to print the Euphoria Coast Automech Repair Facility access pass while I was in there. That would allow me to go there and start the quests that get me the Zyranium shield, but on consulting a wiki I found out that I'm going to be sent there anyway, following Milverstreet's quests to convince Westport to defect to Auntie. So I'll still get the necessary gear. (and I don't have to go back and get the access pass!)
To get into the Vox Relay, I could skip all that shit and just go around back, into a cave system and into a drainage pipe. I had found that without the quest line in a previous playthrough and used it, but I had also done all the preliminary quests.
Anyway, it's kind of like having a new game, doing different quest lines.
Low firing rate, when it reloads it takes forever before you can fire again, but it hits hard. I'll be going back to my regular sniper which is more effective.

I had that and tried it once, then promptly sold it. De Vries' sniper rifle is the one to use. I like that, a heavy revolver and the marksman rifle. Once I get a heavy marksman rifle with a scope/sight I tend to use that for most everything.
In my current playthrough, I just picked up Aza and did the N-Ray Range. Now I'm taking her back to Paradise Island to vengefully murder the rest of the cultists. I love her quest lines.
My next campaign mission is the final one, where it's suggested to complete any unfinished business first because there's no going back. I'm doing that now, doing side missions and companion missions. I was also going to go to the Auntie's Choice headquarters and shoot up the place, but it shows as "unavailable" on the navigation map. Too bad I didn't do that when I was previously there lol! Still I ran into a lot of Auntie's Choice guards in Fairfield who shoot on sight.
I'm eventually going to get to a point where Auntie Poo is going to be an enemy, because I'm going to give the Calcaduceus to The Order. It's theirs, it's always been theirs, they built the Archive computer etc. I don't like Auntie's Choice, I could turn on them at any time, really
The only thing is I'd lose Inez as a follower. I think I'll dismiss her before that. I like Marisol too much to go against The Order, I'd much rather have her.
Or worse, replace him with math. Marisol's character quest, her old friend had some dangerous ideas. Shortcuts to solving the Universal Equation, where it was predicted that if this information got out, there was a high probability of someone like destroying the universe within 1000 years, or something like that.
One of your conversation choices for that is "See? That's why people hate doing math!"
