Before I moved my sister gave me a dead HP laptop she had. It's pretty old, an AMD processor from before the Ryzen era and pretty anemic, with DDR3. My niece got it free when she signed up for a class she was taking at the time. I worked on it about 5 or 6 years ago, it only had 4 GB memory and a mechanical HD and struggling with Windows 10. So I upgraded it to 8 GB and replaced the HD with a sata SSD. I took a look at it this evening. I don't know where the problem is, it does pull minimal power when plugged in, it's just dead. Maybe the power brick, maybe the MB, but it's not worth putting money into, the end result would be a crappy old laptop. So I'm probably going to strip it of useful parts and junk the rest. Probably the most potentially useful part to salvage would be the DVD writer, I think I could stick that in an enclosure. HP laptops sure are a pain to get into, I had to use my spudgers and it was fighting me.

Re: Old HP Junk Laptop
A crappy old HP laptop, at that. I always hated their shit. (and they make things difficult on purpose)
It probably could have run Linux though, but for what... your raspberry pi would be better.
