Assassains Creed: Shadows

Post by Zema Bus »

In the process of trying to sort out my Ubisoft launcher issue I came across this:
Ubisoft is returning to Day 1 Steam releases starting with the recently-delayed Assassin's Creed Shadows, a move that is seemingly in response to softer-than-expected sales for Star Wars Outlaws.

The shift reflects the dominance of Steam as well as some pretty major changes that are happening within Ubisoft. Earlier this week, Steam broke its record for PC players online, hitting 38,366,479 concurrents. The move is seemingly an acknowledgment that any PC game that doesn't launch on Steam is going to leave behind a significant portion of the audience.

Ubisoft isn't the only company embracing Steam. Blizzard, which once kept its exclusively on Battle.net, announced that Diablo 4 would be coming to Steam almost exactly one year ago.

Ubisoft will hope that the the move gives a boost to Assassin's Creed Shadows, which was delayed "further polish the title" and implement "the learnings from Star Wars Outlaws." Star Wars Outlaws, for its part, is headed to Steam on November 21.

Looks like this one is set in Japan. Here's 30 mins of game play of the demo (I only watched the first 3 mins):

Yes, they have learned their lesson with reduced sales of Star Wars Outlaws. They are delaying for polish, AND releasing on Steam on day 1.

It pisses me off that I can't have that Star Wars game. It's not unlocking on Steam until November. That means I refuse to buy it even then... only when the temperature of Hell reaches 0 K and a $10 desperation sale on Steam. I fucking detest that Epic store exclusivity and I am vindictive against any company that engages in it. I would have bought that game on Day 1, 12:01 AM

I'd forgotten all about this game until I saw it on sale on Steam (until 12/18), $34 for the base game. I had wanted to experience it in Japan. But the reports on protondb don't look so good. The most recent ones are from 2 months ago.

I thought that game worked at the time, but I passed on it completely because I don't like the style of gameplay that had been described. When you play the female character, sneaking is mandatory etc.

Despite it having a "Gold" rating, no, it really doesn't look good on protondb. Probably because, there are a lot of reports for that game and a certain percentage of them are classified as good.

My life is Ubisoft free. I actually miss Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Valhalla, but I don't miss that Ubisoft client that limits what wine builds I can use and stuff.

I tried Assassin's Creed Mirage and they can shove that

I tried Star Wars Outlaws and shoved it back up their rectum myself (sent it back for refund)

So I passed on Shadows, because I do NOT like their style of sneaking. (Where you can't fight much if you get caught)
