New Stargate Series
It's been in the works for many years, sounds like they're finally moving forward.

Re: New Stargate Series
They didn't tell us anything about it, other than they are making it with Amazon Prime.
I guess I'll look forward to torrenting it then, whatever it is

Re: New Stargate Series
I really like Stargate, but I don't have Prime. I've been canceling subscriptions that I rarely use. I need to get back outside anyway.....lol

Re: New Stargate Series
I actually do have Prime video, I just refuse to use it. One reason being, I don't like streaming... it's a waste of bandwidth, just throwing bits away like that. If I had my way, it wouldn't be allowed on my network, but when sister and brood come, that would be mean. Dad only uses streaming (Netflix) if his Bell Satellite service is out (which isn't that rare). I'd rather download and keep the shows for watching locally.
The other is I'm not keen on Amazon (It comes with a human cost that I'm not blind to... also I feel remorse at making Bezos any richer, so he can help subvert society). Sounds strange, but I resent being thrown a bone from their ilk. I only have a subscription because shipping is otherwise expensive... something like a new UPS would cost $40+ in shipping. You can't just go and buy things in this area, either. I doubt you could walk in a store and buy most computer stuff I'd need within a 120 mile radius. "I can order it for you!?!" (no thanks, I can do that too without your markup). Even Radio Shack ("The Source" it became, in Canada) is gone from the area and there's nowhere to buy connectors and doohickeys. Shit like that is BECAUSE of Amazon.

Re: New Stargate Series
I use Amazon only when the shipping is free. I don't have Prime and probably never will. I do have a couple of streaming services - Paramount Plus and Disney Plus. The grandkids (some) love Disney Plus and we watch a lot of Paramount shows. Believe it or not, we aren't stay at home grandparents.

Re: New Stargate Series
My sister and family had Disney Plus for a while. It was ridiculous, despite the expensive subscription they still wanted to charge $30 for you to watch any recent release. They didn't keep it long.

Re: New Stargate Series
Amazon streaming is the only streaming service I have now after cancelling NetFlix. I get the DVD sets of some shows I like, but there is a convenience factor to streaming a show. I mostly have Amazon Prime for the things I can't get locally, no places around here to get computer parts, I'd have to go all the way up to Phoenix. Plus for other mundane items it's just more convenient, and often cheaper. Downside is all the cardboard boxes I have to destroy lol!

I'd be shooting myself in the foot, canceling Prime. It's worth the money even if you just order things 3 or 4 times a year. (or as I said, I'm glad to have it for even 1 expensive order like 2 UPS units)

Re: New Stargate Series
David Hewlett (Rodney McKay) did a live stream about the new Stargate series. I caught the tail end of it, I'll watch more of it later, or maybe the whole thing while I'm stuck doing something else, like working (he did it for 2 hours, 18 mins).

Re: New Stargate Series
I can't listen to anybody for 2 hours, but Hewlett speaks well (usually) with energy. Unfortunately they aren't talking much about the show (I'll have to try jumping through more of it later).

Re: New Stargate Series
Finished product sometime in 2028. Too far out to hold my interest.
