The US Senate has passed a provision that would give US firms first dibs on advanced chips, just as China tightens customs checks on Nvidia GPUs, leaving the company caught between competing policies across the Pacific.
The Guaranteeing Access and Innovation for National Artificial Intelligence (GAIN AI) Act of 2025 didn't get its own standalone vote in the US Senate, instead being passed as part of the FY 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which scored Senate approval in a vote on Thursday despite opposition from Nvidia, which argued to The Register that the rule was a "self-defeating policy based on doomer science fiction," like the now-terminated AI Diffusion Rule that came before it.
They do this with foreign subsidiaries at their whims too, for example Pfizer. (this was during the Biden admin though... but I'll still call it out)
I don't know why any foreign or international company would want to have a presence in Nazi America. They can seize control of it at any time.
It is utterly absurd, the things this administration is doing (and getting away with). Could the Trump administration make America look any more reprehensible? The bastards are bringing back coal fired plants, for powering all these datacenters. With no regulations (no need for those expensive scrubbers), to boot. Right now that's going to be very profitable (you couldn't give coal away right now, there's a big surplus) for a short time. Just enough for some oligarchs to enrich themselves and a bit more environmental destruction (mining and burning coal).

*Solar pretty much takes energy out of the hands of the people profiting from it. Anyone can invest money in solar equipment and not pay those slobbering middle men a dime.
I saw this on FB. I looked it up and he actually did make this false claim that Biden placed FBI agents into the Jan 6th crowd. Problem is Biden wasn't yet president at that time, Trump still was, and so had no authority over the FBI.
Looking at the comments on that site posted from the Truth Social forum it's not surprising his followers take everything he says as the absolute truth despite that fact that it's an impossible scenario, one that should be obvious to anyone who thinks for themselves.
And then there's his call to "DO SOMETHING!!!" - sounds like he's trying to prime his followers to respond to his allegations with force, again.

A lot of "No Kings" protesting going on today, an unprecidented turnout. I hope it's getting under the Trumpanzees' skins, like ticks and mites. I also hope (but I'm not optimistic) that the regime and its miserable rubes fail to provoke the violence that Trump is looking for, to invoke the Insurrection Act and use martial law.

The fact that Trump is focused on building a ballroom funded by corrupt corporate donations and throwing a Great Gatsby party at Mar-a-Lago as SNAP benefits expire for 42 millions highlights just how rotten to its core the Republican Party has become. As if that weren't bad enough, the ongoing government shutdown is a result of Trump refusing to extend crucial Affordable Care Act subsidies.
The MAGA movement has become so cartoonishly evil that some Americans have chosen to stick their heads in the sand rather than confront it. Obama refuses to do that—

Venezuelan authorities announced on Wednesday the seizure of nearly 3.7 metric tons of cocaine and the arrest of several individuals, including a man they claim is a U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agent.
Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello said security forces intercepted a speedboat in the waters off Falcón state on September 14, carrying 100 sacks of cocaine and 2,400 liters of fuel. The operation, which Cabello described as "clean," ended with five arrests. The detainees were identified as Joel Luis Rodríguez Ramos, Jesús Antonio Quilarte Carreño, Jhonny José Salazar Gutiérrez, Carlos Alberto Bravo Lemus, and Levi Enrique López, who Cabello alleged is linked to the DEA.
According to Cabello, the detainees confessed the shipment was part of a "false flag operation" designed to incriminate Venezuela in international drug trafficking and justify external aggression. "The four detainees are saying they work for the DEA," Cabello told state television, calling the alleged plan a "maneuver for destabilization."

Seems like there has been a lot of things about the current administration I've only heard about from outside news sources. It's approaching the way China censors what information their citizens have access to.
Latin Times is American though, just that their purpose is to serve Hispanic/Latino communities. Yep, authoritarian censorship in America. Also a concern is that the Bush (W) admin created what's essentially an "Internet kill switch" along with the authority to use it. They have control of the root nameservers, and can order American communication companies to shut down communications in any region they want. Before this regime falls, they'll use that to try to protect themselves.

I think that's getting old, even with his base... blaming Democrats for the problems he is causing. People will know why their food assistance has been cut off.
A lot of people think of that like welfare and scoff, but in the U.S. it's not. The Walmarts and their ilk USE that to keep paying employees low wages. They manage their hours so they never get enough for full time benefits too. Walmart HR coaches people on how to apply for SNAP benefits. There are assloads of people with "full time" jobs who need SNAP assistance to feed their families. This shit needs to be said every time there's a conversation about SNAP.
