Thick manuals used to come with Windows and DOS from that era too. Boxed versions of games during the 90's usually came with detailed manuals.

Back then, we didn't use mice, just DOS. I remember seeing those ridiculous things though. It reminded me a bit of a video game track ball and I didn't understand how that would help anybody. My cousin's little mac had something like that.
My keyboard is from that time period though, one of the first PS/2.
