Another phenomena that reminds me of computer hardware and software - digital processing that under some circumstances gets things wrong.

Hmm, yeah, weird. I can't even make myself see those blue bars as parallel. However, if I follow it with my eyes I can see that its straight based on the points it intersects with on the light squares in the background (that do look straight and parallel). Just to make sure I wasn't being had, I saved it and opened it (and zoomed) with gimp and checked the coordinates too

See though, the dark blue lines inside the bars ARE curved. The lines that join those shapes together. That's part of the deception I think.
