RTF & Windows 11

Windows 11 ripped out Wordpad when my work laptop updated from Windows 10, and I had some stuff stored in RTF format. So I got LibrieOffice Portable, which installs into user space so it doesn't get stopped by the multiple security barriers in place. Now I can easily open RTF files again.

My employer installed Adobe PDF reader when they setup this laptop 3 years ago, but now it requires creating an Adobe account to open a local PDF file, if you don't it just closes. So I've just been using a browser when I need to open PDF's. Now the useless Adobe reader is prompting to reboot the computer just to update Adobe. I think it can wait.

That was pretty assholish, leaving people without anything that opens their own stupid .rtf files. They fixed the limitations of notepad, so they could get rid of wordpad but they should have given notepad rtf support. They expect everyone to get Office 365.

Adobe reader is a horrible program now. Nobody needs that shit anymore, the cat is out of the bag. Just about anything can both read and generate pdf files. If people would just stop digitally protecting PDF files for no reason other than they can, that'd be great.
