id-cooling X25 Thermal GLUE

Post by Grogan »

Yes, I said glue

I tried that paste last night, but while I was spreading, it started to go immediately stringy and harden. I wiped that the fuck off right away (with methanol) while I could, and went with my 18 year old tube of Arctic Silver (which is still fine, stored standing upright in good dry conditions, against cold metal in the dark closet). Once I squirted some out it was good consistency still. I've always been conservative and careful with that, and it has never really failed. (I mean, I've cleaned and redone it a few times as a matter of course in the last 10 years).

That was probably a smart move aborting that, I don't want that shit on my CPU.

I guess the thing to get these days is that "Arctic MX". Next time I order something I'll add on a tube of that.

I don't think I've ever used the thermal paste that comes with coolers, glad I never tried the one provided by Id-Cooling lol!

Wow, that's some old Arctic Silver. Yeah I've been using Arctic MX-6 the last few years.
