Lennart Poettering's Run0

Overnight systemd lead developer Lennart Poettering wrote on Mastodon around systemd's newest effort: run0 as a sudo-like command. Coming for systemd 256 is "run0" as a sudo clone. Due to long-standing issues with sudo, Lennart wrote of run0: There's a new tool in systemd, called "ru...

Re: Far Cry 6

Almost like you had planned it that way lol! I had something similar happen in 'High on Life' when I was endless getting killed by an enemy in a confined arena. At one point after many deaths and respawns one of his weapons blows me way up onto a ledge from where I was able to leisurely knock down h...

Re: Looks Like I'll Have To Sell The House

The word that sums up my status right now is stress :) They want me to take pics of the house, I got the outside ones done, over the weekend I'll do all the rooms. I'm going to try to clean things up a bit first, and see if I can get some junk haulers to come by to clear out a bunch of stuff Sunday....

Re: More GUI traps

I noticed that too, it came in with some update a while back. When typing all the way across only then will it give you single space but hit enter at the end of a sentence and you get double spacing. Another thing that changed recently, the annoying sort by threaded got turned back on again, making ...

Re: Looks Like I'll Have To Sell The House

Yeah I think getting all the junk sorted out is going to take a while. Wish I could take a week off from work to devote to it. I have a lot of ancient computer parts, some of it I'll try to save but the majority of it is either too obsolete or junk. I have a motherboard graveyard in one cabinet, a b...

Re: Looks Like I'll Have To Sell The House

The wheels are starting to turn, I have Zoom meeting scheduled with the Revive company on Wednesday. I might just get a rental after the initial as-is sell, then after the renovations and final sell finally get a new place. A rental like this might do, sounds like there's room there to store my stuf...

I just played Serious Sam Fusion for a few mins, I hadn't played it since 2019, and I got an achievement: Kill an enemy with a gib torn from another enemy. 11% of players have this achievement I'm sure I've done that before in the separate games. Seems like there would have been more players having ...

Re: Looks Like I'll Have To Sell The House

Their definition of rural is pretty broad though, the suburbs qualify. After pouring over all the information I could find the last few days I think the Revive company is going to be my best bet. Their primary business is renovating homes (realtors send their clients to them). For the option of havi...

Re: Looks Like I'll Have To Sell The House

I found out about government program (USDA) that might be able to help me. I haven't gone through it thoroughly yet but I did do the eligibility check and I'm under the max gross income limit, though just barely. The Section 502 Guaranteed Loan Program assists approved lenders in providing low- and ...

Re: Looks Like I'll Have To Sell The House

Yep, I hope to make it as seamless as possible. Fortunately since I'm fully remote I never have to physically show up in any offices for the contract company. They're headquartered in Texas though they also have offices in San Diego and Florida. This will be my first time doing a full blown move, wh...

Re: Looks Like I'll Have To Sell The House

I'm psyching myself up to the daunting task of relocating lol! I think I can do most of it remotely if I can find a good realtor there, and it will likely be new construction which will make it simpler. If the home buying company gives me time after closing to get things wrapped up with the new hous...

Re: Looks Like I'll Have To Sell The House

I've been reading that there's a lot of this going on now, some people forced out even with a fully paid off loan because they're on a fixed income and can't afford the property tax hikes on top of the higher cost of living. Yeah I'd sure like to get something going to make money independent of an e...

Looks Like I'll Have To Sell The House

Well I may have to sell the house. I'm not making as much as I was when I first bought it all those years ago but I've been holding my own for the last 17 years. But now with the cost of living costing so much more, property taxes going way up, insurance going up, and very high income taxes things a...

Re: Random Stuff, Seen on the net that made me LoL

There's a company called Edison Motors that builds diesel electric trucks (and makes conversion kits for existing trucks) with the same type of drive train as a diesel electric locomotive. They have no drive shafts, the engine powers a generator which powers electric motors on the axles.

Thunderbird 125.0

Thunderbird has been based on Firefox ESR, but it just jumped from 115.0 to 125.0. I thought Firefox ESR must have jumped as well, but it's still showing as 115.0. So I don't know if Thunderbird was rebased on the regular release of Firefox, or if Firefox ESR will soon make the jump as well. I could...

I noticed that about Manjaro when I had previously configured her older machine to dual boot Manjaro and Windows 10 a few years ago. Most distros these days by default disable probing for other installed OS's so os-prober doesn't run. If not manually configuring it it can be enabled by adding or unc...

MS Open Sources MS-DOS 4.0

After publishing open-source versions of MS-DOS years ago for versions 1.25 and 2.0, Microsoft and IBM have now announced that MS-DOS 4.0 has been open-sourced under an MIT license. MS-DOS 4.0 is now open-source and available on GitHub. This open-sourcing of MS-DOS 4.00 is primarily done for histor...
